Nanoparticles

Nanoparticles and ceramic powders

Nanotechnology is used in a wide variety of products, including foods, cosmetics such a sun creams or toothpaste, fabrics with antibacterial coatings, the chemical industry, medicine and pharmaceuticals.

Polymeric nano and micro particles charged with active ingredients are at the forefront of new drug formulations and therapeutic applications. They are often produced using emulsion-based procedures. Freeze drying is the preferred means to convert proteins and other biopharmaceutical substances into a stable dry form.

Another attractive area is the binding of ceramic suspensions with nanoparticles in dentistry. An advantage of ceramics with nanoparticles is that they form a solid structure. This innovative structure is strong and thermally stable, and it has high chemical resistance. In this application, freeze drying converts the ceramic suspensions into a stable dry state. This preserves the nanoscale structure responsible for the previously mentioned properties and prevents agglomeration.

As a manufacturer of an extensive range of freeze drying units, we recommend our Epsilon 2-4 LSCplus pilot freeze dryer as the ideal device for this application.
